Kodiaks Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Mustangs
The Billings Mustangs got a superb performance from catcher Barry Ross. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Calgary. The Kodiaks won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Ross was named the player of the game. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Juan Ramírez picked up the save for Calgary, his 8th of the year. The Mustangs, now 29-25, have lost 7 in a row.

The Kodiaks got a big at-bat from left fielder Bill O'Brien. For the game, O'Brien went 1 for 3 with a walk, while scoring 2 times. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 24th hit of the season gave Calgary a 5-4 lead.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," O'Brien said.
