Caterpillars Fall Short, 2-1, at Calgary
Calgary starter Lewis Portsmouth put a stranglehold on the Peoria offense. The left-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Kodiaks to a 2-1 win. Juan Ramírez was credited with the save for Calgary, his 7th of the season. The Kodiaks, now at 27-26, know that wins in June count the same as wins in September.

Bill O'Brien helped out the Calgary cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the left fielder was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," O'Brien said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
