Jorge Olivo pitched well, but his team, the Minneapolis Freeze, still dropped a 3-2 decision to the Detroit Death Stars at The Ice Box. The win was credited to Lorenzo Ortega in relief. His record improves to 5-0. Jorge Olivo took the loss. Picking up the save was Hervé Muller, his 10th.

Raúl Fernández was 1 for 4 for Detroit. The 26-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Jorge Olivo. It was his 23rd RBI of the season.

Fernández told a Detroit Daily reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

The Death Stars bumped their record to 26-25 with this latest triumph.
