Peoria starter Yasuyuki Takata put a stranglehold on the Calgary offense. The right-hander had complete command of his splitter in leading the Caterpillars to a 3-0 win. In 6 innings, Takata surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Picking up the save was Victor Hernandez, his 3rd.

Peoria used the clutch hitting of Yoshida Nakai to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to give the Caterpillars the lead, 1-0. For the game, Nakai had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Calgary skipper Shigetaka Ohayashi, "and it cost us."
