Fireballs Need Extra Frames to Get Past Banditos
Getting a good performance from second baseman Carlos Molina, the Joplin Fireballs defeated the Acapulco Banditos, 7-5. Molina was 3-5 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Fireballs. Tomoyuki Kiyomizu got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. Joplin, at 20-29, occupies last place in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.

Molina had a game-changing single in the top of the 11th. On a 1-0 curveball from Curtis Cahill, he banged a 2-run single to left, giving the Fireballs a 7-5 lead. It was the 19th hit of the year for Molina.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Fireballs manager Clement Snow. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
