|
Peoria rode a fine outing from starter Loeck Jurgens to victory over the Bowling Green Racers at Top of the Hill. The final score was 6-2. Jurgens got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. Jurgens allowed 1 earned run. Victor Hernandez closed the door for Peoria, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Hiyutaro Ushijima was 1-4 for Peoria. The 23-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Nelson Cardona. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.
"It feels good to get this one," Ushijima told the Peoria Bulletin.
The Caterpillars now have a record of 21-26 with the win over Bowling Green.
