Islanders Win in Extras
|
With second baseman Jim Burry leading the charge, the Hawaii Islanders defeated the So Cal Republic, 7-4, at Aloha Stadium. Burry went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The win brings the Islanders to 12-9, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Hawaii won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With no outs and Pin-zhen Au on the mound for So Cal, first baseman Bagaskoro Pakpahan hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Islanders fans to their feet.
"There's no quit in this team," said Islanders manager Leland Ray.
