Golden Gate Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the San Francisco Earthquakes and the Vancouver Pioneers.

The San Francisco Earthquakes topped the Vancouver Pioneers, 9-8, in Thurman Munson League action at Golden Gate Park. The player of the game was San Francisco left fielder Júlio Solís. Carlos Estrada, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 6 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 1-0. Eddie Rosado recorded the save for San Francisco, his 3rd of the season.

Juan López, who is a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, aided the San Francisco cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 5. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," López told the San Francisco Citizen. "It's as simple as that."
