Victory Pushes Flash Record to 31-13
|
Durham Bulls Athletic Park was the site of a tense game between the Acapulco Banditos and Fairfield Flash.
The Fairfield Flash got a stellar effort from pitcher Gabriel Bernard, helping Fairfield score a 3-1 win over the visiting Acapulco Banditos. Fairfield is now 31-13, 4 games up in the Nick Adenhart League Tony La Russa Division.
Had Howard Jennings not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Jennings hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Flash.
Afterward, Flash manager Gary Altman was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
