Cacti Come Up Short at Vancouver
The Albuquerque Cacti got a superb performance from second baseman Sergio Pérez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Vancouver. The Canadians won the game, 6-5. In spite of the loss, Pérez was named the player of the game. He was 2-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Mike Bunch got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Vancouver has now won 5 straight.

The Canadians got a big at-bat from second baseman José Rodríguez. For the game, Rodríguez went 2-4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 38th hit of the season gave Vancouver a 6-5 lead.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Albuquerque manager Tom Robertson. "But we decided not to take it."
