Black Knights Clip Beavers in Tight Contest
|
Portland got a terrific performance from pitcher Felipe De La Hoya, but it wasn't enough to beat the Brooklyn Black Knights. Brooklyn won the Waterfront Park contest, 4-3. De La Hoya was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings allowing 3 runs. Brooklyn reliever Cong Foong picked up the win to move to 1-1. Olivier Martin suffered the loss. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Ti-an Dan.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, David O'Farrell, hit a single. It helped Brooklyn seize the win.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," O'Farrell told the Brooklyn Gazette.
The Beavers fall to 9-13 and continue their lackluster start in 2033.
