The Peoria Caterpillars got a stellar performance from pitcher Morihiro Hashimoto, who handcuffed the Calgary offense en route to a 3-2 win at Excavatar Park. Peoria reliever Freddy Aguilar picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Marcus Clifton took the loss. The win puts the Caterpillars at 16-21, while the Kodiaks drop to 15-21.
Had Eric Daniels not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Daniels hit a 2-run double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Caterpillars.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Hashimoto told the Peoria Bulletin.
