Victory Pushes Canadians Record to 20-17
|
The Coronado Phantoms got a superb performance from pitcher Tetsuzan Ono. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Vancouver. The Canadians won the game, 5-2. In spite of the loss, Ono was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner was Vancouver reliever Fernando López, now 4-1. The loser was Tetsuzan Ono. Alexis Coates was credited with the save for Vancouver, his 2nd of the season.
The Canadians got a big at-bat from catcher Steve Osburn. For the game, Osburn was 1-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave Vancouver a 2-0 lead.
"I thought we played a nice game," Osburn told the Vancouver Gazette. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The Phantoms, at 12-25, have lost 4 in a row.
