Mustangs Turn Back Bronx, 3-1
|
The Billings Mustangs picked up a win at Cobb Field, knocking off the Bronx Bombers, 3-1. On the mound for Billings was right-hander Luis Sánchez, who played a pivotal role in the win. Sánchez, now 3-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 4, walking 8, and allowing 1 earned run. Picking up the save was John Otten, his 5th.
Had Dante Deleón not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Deleón hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Mustangs.
Deleón said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
Billings has a 3-game win streak, while Bronx has lost 3 in a row.
