Death Stars Jolt Fireballs with Late Rally

Manny Silva did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Joplin Fireballs from losing, 6-5, to the Detroit Death Stars at The Death Star. Silva went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The last-place Fireballs have lost 4 consecutive games.
With two out in the bottom of the eighth, Morgan Catterall stroked a go-ahead run-scoring single. It was his 26th hit of the season and put Detroit in front, 6-5.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Catterall told the Detroit Daily.
