Fireballs Drop Freeze with Late Score

The Fireballs had to overcome a fine performance from Minneapolis pitcher Andrew Johnson to grab a 3-2 win at The Firepit. Johnson allowed 3 earned runs over 8 innings. Reliever Tam Bilh picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Andrew Johnson took the loss. The save was Tomoyuki Kiyomizu's, his 8th.
Joplin took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With no one out, pinch hitter Hal Farmer hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Farmer.
With the win, Joplin pushes its record to 14-17.
