Ijaz Kharoti pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Havana Stogies, despite Kharoti's fine outing, dropped a 1-0 decision to the Seattle Sasquatch at Sick's Stadium. Garth Daniels, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on 5 hits in 6.1 innings. Earning his 3rd save for Seattle was Gabresilassie Cherono.

The Sasquatch got a big at-bat from first baseman Floyd McAuley. For the game, McAuley was 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the second, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Seattle a 1-0 lead.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," McAuley said.

Despite the win, Seattle, now 6-15, is off to a terrible start.
