The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements at Golden Fleece Park enjoyed themselves.
The Indian Wells Aeropostales got a sterling performance from pitcher Bappaka Ramanakoppa, but the Argonauts still prevailed, 4-2. Ramanakoppa was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. Rhys Ballard picked up the save, his 6th.
Astoria took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With no one out, pinch hitter John Howard hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"I thought we played a nice game," Howard told the Astoria Daily. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
With the win, Astoria goes to 14-16.
