Toreros Win in Glorious Fashion
|
Eureka got a terrific performance from first baseman Edmund McDonald, but it wasn't enough to beat the Cabo San Lucas Toreros. Cabo San Lucas won the Field de Los Layendas contest, 4-3. McDonald was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Cabo San Lucas reliever Amirtharaj Nagaraja picked up the win to move to 1-1. Elliott Rogers suffered the loss. The Toreros have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 5th win in 18 games.
The Toreros got a big at-bat from second baseman Sadahige Taniguchi. For the game, Taniguchi was 1-2 with 3 walks. In the bottom of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 6th hit of the season gave Cabo San Lucas a 4-3 lead.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Matt Johnson, the Cabo San Lucas manager.
