The Mafia faced a stiff challenge from San Diego pitcher Salah bin Atif, but persevered to claim a win at The Brew Stade. The final score was 4-3. bin Atif went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. New York reliever Jun'ichi Suzuki picked up the win to move to 1-2. Taylor Longbottom suffered the loss. The Mafia, with only their 6th win in 20 games, could be the worst team in the league.
The result might have been different for New York, had it not been for Bill Grant. The second baseman produced a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Mafia ahead, 4-3. For the game, Grant had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Grant told the New York Chronicle.
