Coronado pitcher Taylor Longbottom did his part in helping his team beat the Chicago Titans, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Longbottom, now 1-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 11 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 3 earned runs. Kawanari Uchida got credit for the save for Coronado. It was his 2nd of the year.
Coronado took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, first baseman Giampaolo Marcovicci hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Longbottom said.
The Phantoms are off to a tough start, getting just their 9th win in 23 games.
