Fairfield pitcher Joe Gillard did his part in helping his team beat the Fort Worth Cats, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Fairfield reliever Jamie Newitt picked up the win to move to 1-0. Bobby Saxon suffered the loss. With their winning streak at 4, the Flash have raced to a strong start this season.
The Flash got a big at-bat from left fielder Justin Dixon. For the game, Dixon went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave Fairfield a 5-3 lead.
Dixon called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
