Washington, Cats Too Much for Escape
The Fort Worth Cats topped the Scranton Escape, 6-3, with catcher Roger Washington playing a big role. Washington was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Cats in the win. Josuke Fujihara got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Bobby Saxon closed it out for his 7th save.

Washington contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Fort Worth in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Washington took a fastball from Rino Nitisastro and stroked the home run to left. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Cats to leap in front, 3-2.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Washington.

The win brings the Cats to 9-12, a soft start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
