Armada Prevail, 6-5, Over Cabo San Lucas
|
The Quebec Armada topped the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 6-5, with youngster Mike Duren playing a key role. Duren went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Armada in the win. Orinosuke Matsuoka picked up the win with 8 innings of work. He allowed 5 earned runs on 10 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 1-1. The save went to Darma Djojohadiksumo, his 1st this season.
Duren had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 0-1 fastball from Ju-ao Ru, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Armada a 6-4 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Duren.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Cabo San Lucas manager Matt Johnson. "The effort was great."
The Toreros, at 4-13, have stumbled out of the gate.
