Bombers Win at Eureka, 7-3
|
The South Carolina Bombers picked up a win at The Nest, knocking off the Eureka Hornets, 7-3. Starting pitcher Ángel Ruíz played a key role in the triumph. In 8.1 innings, Ruíz surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 3 runs. The save went to Christian Wallace, his 5th this season.
Kiyonobu Yamasaki, who is a three-time Gold Glove Award winner, aided the South Carolina cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder was 1-4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Ruíz said.
South Carolina, now 10-6, has played well in the early going.
