Baristas Win at Chicago, 12-5
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Silver Lake Baristas topped the Chicago Titans, 12-5, with youngster Toshikasu Okuda playing a key role. Okuda was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Baristas in the win. Douggie Pitchford picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 5 earned runs on 11 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 1. On the season, he is now 1-2. The save went to Van Perry, his 1st this season.
Okuda contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Silver Lake in the top of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Okuda took a fastball from Jian-cheng Wang and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Baristas to leap in front, 2-1.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Okuda said.
The Baristas, with just their 3rd win in 11 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
