Canadians Turn Back Coronado, 3-2
|
The Vancouver Canadians topped the Coronado Phantoms, 3-2, in Nick Adenhart League action at Stanley Park. The player of the game was Vancouver pitcher and Wilmette, Illinois native Peter McColgan. McColgan went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Hou-kang Li.
The Canadians got a big at-bat from first baseman Masayuki Kimura. For the game, Kimura was 1-1 with a walk and was hit 2 times. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 1st hit of the season gave Vancouver a 3-2 lead.
"Both teams played hard," said Vancouver manager Arinori Nakamura.
The loss drops Coronado to 3-4.
