Fort Worth shortstop Ron Woods had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-6, to Vancouver at Stanley Park. Woods was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The loss drops Fort Worth to 1-1.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when left fielder Robert Mentzer, the 16 overall pick in the 2030 draft, drew a walk. The Canadians went on to win.

"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Mentzer. "But I have better dreams after a win."
