Fans of the Scranton Escape who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Scranton win over the visiting Acapulco Banditos, 3-1. Rino Nitisastro started for the home team against Jason Walker. Jason Walker earned the coveted player of the game honors. Joe Kenner, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3.1 innings.

The Escape beat the Banditos in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Jesus Chavez produced in the bottom of the fourth. Batting against Acapulco pitcher Jason Walker, Chavez gave his team a 2-1 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Chavez. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
