White, Aces Wallop Sasquatch
|
The Columbus Aces defeated the Seattle Sasquatch, 10-1. Earning player of the game honors was designated hitter Doug White, who went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Yeijiro Suzuki earned the win for Columbus. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 6 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 2-2. No one expected much of this team but the hot start by Columbus might have some re-evaluating their pre-season predictions. The win today pushes their record to 10-6.
The Aces got a big at-bat from first baseman Joaquín Rodríguez. For the game, Rodríguez was 2-5 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 20th hit of the season gave Columbus a 1-0 lead.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," White said. "We did a good job of that today."
