Beavers Win at Seattle, 5-1
|
Portland got a strong outing from Yoshiaki Kojima as the Beavers defeated the Seattle Sasquatch, 5-1, at Sick's Stadium. Kojima went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 6-5. The Beavers, at 75-81, sit in 4th place in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.
The Beavers got a big at-bat from catcher Ralph Blair. For the game, Blair was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 32nd home run of the season gave Portland a 2-0 lead.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Blair told the Portland Gazette.
