Brooklyn left-hander Jan Shirazi made an effective start against the Hawaii Islanders at Blue Ivy Stadium, leading his team to a 3-2 win. The Black Knights bumped their record to 83-73 with this latest triumph.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, right fielder Todd McCarthy came through big-time for the Black Knights. With Brooklyn leading 1-0, he belted a 2-run home run.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Shirazi said after the game.
