Victory Over Hops Takes So Cal to 117-38
|
The So Cal Republic picked up a win at House of the Republic, knocking off the San Diego Hops, 2-1. Starting pitcher Elias Bowen played a key role in the triumph. Bowen got the win, improving to 17-5. He allowed 7 hits and walked 0 over 7.2 innings. Bowen allowed 1 earned run. So Cal has now won 5 straight.
Had Jon Pittman not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Pittman hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Republic.
"This was a good win for us," said Pittman. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
