Zabel Helps Republic Run Win Streak to 3
|
Gerd Zabel made an impact in the 6-4 So Cal win over Rubber City. Zabel, who is tied for 7th in the RCL with a .309 batting average, was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Tanner Johnson got the win, improving to 18-2. He held the Rhinos to 3 earned runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 5. Pin-zhen Au converted his 54th save in 58 tries.
Drake Ramsey was 1 for 4 for So Cal. The 25-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Sigfrid Arnim. It was his 115th RBI of the season.
"We take it day by day here," said Zabel, "and today was a good one for us."
The Republic improved to a lofty 115-38.
