South Carolina pitcher Ángel Ruíz did his part in helping his team beat the Vancouver Pioneers, 3-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Ewan Pethick picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Ekagra Manasi was tagged with the loss. South Carolina is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The Bombers got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Kiyonobu Yamasaki. For the game, Yamasaki went 1 for 1 with a home run. In the top of the eighth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 22nd home run of the season gave South Carolina a 3-2 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Yamasaki told the South Carolina Times, "then get ready for the next game."
