Toreros Fall Short, 5-4, at South Carolina
|
The South Carolina Bombers picked up a win at Bomber Ballpark, knocking off the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 5-4. Starting pitcher Ange Schmit, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Schmit got the win, improving to 19-11. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. Schmit allowed 2 earned runs. Christian Wallace converted his 27th save in 32 tries.
Zhao-ying Gai, who is tied for 3rd in the TML in total bases with 307, aided the South Carolina cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Gai told reporters after the game.
The Bombers bumped their record to 83-67 with this latest triumph.
