Kansas City pitcher Paul Groulx did his part in helping his team beat the Georgia Grays, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Kansas City reliever Damon Willis was the winner. His record is now 2-5. Ánibal Altichioro took the loss. Norberto Barrón was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 12 of 14 save opportunities.
The Tornadoes got a big at-bat from third baseman Marcos Tovar. For the game, Tovar was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the seventh, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Kansas City a 3-1 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Groulx.
The Tornadoes, at 54-95, sit in 5th place in the Thurman Munson League Sparky Anderson Division.
