The Portland Beavers racked up a win at Don Corleone Park, bumping off the New York Mafia, 10-3. Félix Reina, who started for Portland, pitched effectively for his team. Reina, now 9-10, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 10, walking 0, and allowing no earned runs. Michael Smith notched his 1st save in 2 chances.
Rafael Cruz's at-bat in the top of the first inning was a big one for Portland. Coming to bat with one out, runners on 1st and 3rd and Portland leading 1-0, the right fielder reached on an error by the center fielder, driving in 1 run.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Reina.
The 'W' lifts Portland's record to 69-77.
