Islanders Prevail, 5-3, Over San Francisco
|
Hawaii rode a decent outing from starter Allen Cox to victory over the San Francisco Earthquakes at Aloha Stadium. The final score was 5-3. Bernalldo Rocchi earned his 35th save in 40 chances. The Islanders have an impressive 87-54 record.
Had Ryan Lewry not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Lewry hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Islanders.
In comments to the Hawaii News, Lewry insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
