Kato 3-3 as Hops Squeeze Past Cabo San Lucas
Akira Kato was instrumental in his team's 6-5 triumph over the Cabo San Lucas Toreros. The second baseman was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the San Diego Hops. Zong-yuan Sang was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 11 save opportunities. Even with the win, the Hops have a dismal 47-94 record.

The Hops got a big at-bat from third baseman An-yi Bian. For the game, Bian was 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the ninth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 15th home run of the season gave San Diego a 5-4 lead.

"It feels good to get this one," Kato told the San Diego News.
