Kansas City withstood an impressive performance by Cabo San Lucas catcher Dae-ki Yi to defeat the Toreros, 3-2, at Field de Los Layendas. Yi hit 2 home runs. Kansas City reliever Xian Wang picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Ramón Gonzáles was saddled with the loss. Kansas City goes to 52-87, Cabo San Lucas to 56-83.

Kansas City used the timely hitting of Matt Winters to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Tornadoes on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Winters said after the game.
