The So Cal Republic got a good effort from starter Jin-woo Pi in defeating the Brooklyn Black Knights at Blue Ivy Stadium. The final score was 4-2. So Cal reliever Lloyd Hunt got the win, raising his record to 10-4. Cong Foong was tagged with the loss. Pin-zhen Au notched his 48th save in 52 chances.
Had Drake Ramsey not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Ramsey hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Republic.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said So Cal skipper Munenori Sato. "I can't complain."
So Cal has now won 4 in a row.
