Both teams had their chances, but the San Diego Hops eventually prevailed at The Nest.

San Diego beat Eureka at The Nest, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Tokuhei Taniguchi, who earned player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Even with the win, the Hops have a dismal 41-87 record.

Taniguchi had a big at-bat with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the top of the third inning, when he hit a 3-run home run. The Hops went on to win.

"We take it day by day here," said Taniguchi, "and today was a good one for us."
