Mafia Lose to Toreros, 7-5
|
The Cabo San Lucas Toreros beat the New York Mafia, 7-5, at Field de Los Layendas. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter George Guinn, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4 for 4 with 4 singles. He scored 2 runs. Cabo San Lucas, at 51-77, occupies 5th place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
Dae-ki Yi was 1-1 with 2 walks for Cabo San Lucas. The 25-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Lex Herrewijn. It was his 12th RBI of the season.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Toreros manager Matt Johnson. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
