Aces Win in Glorious Fashion
|
People near Central Park Downtown Stadium no doubt heard the roar of the crowd as the winning run crossed the plate.
The Columbus Aces beat the Jacksonville Jacks, 8-5, at Central Park Downtown Stadium. The Aces got a fine performance from designated hitter Doug White, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Columbus reliever Amaui Mahi'ai picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Nobuharu Fujita shouldered the loss.
White had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a 0-1 fastball from Nobuharu Fujita, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Aces a 8-5 lead. It was the 29th home run of the year for White.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said White. "And not try to do too much."
Even with the win, the Aces have a dismal 43-81 record.
