Islanders Turn Back Columbus, 5-3
|
Doug White had a good game, but he could not keep the Columbus Aces from falling, 5-3, to the Hawaii Islanders at Aloha Stadium. The Columbus designated hitter went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk in the loss. Rodrigo Garza earned the win to go to 11-6. He allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Hawaii has now won 4 straight, while the Aces have lost 5 in a row.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the ninth inning, but Bernalldo Rocchi didn't flinch. With the bases loaded and Columbus trailing 5-3, Rocchi retired Greg Holder to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Rocchi, with a wink.
