Riding the 2-hit performance of the former first round draft pick Ashton Stanton, the Jacksonville Jacks stopped the New York Mafia, 6-2. Yoshiaga Rin got the win, improving to 6-5. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 4. Kichibei Endo was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 21 of 27 save opportunities.
With Jacksonville leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second, Stanton hit a sinker from Juan Mendoza for a 2-run double. It was his 20th double of the season and put the Jacks ahead, 4-0.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Stanton told the Jacksonville Chronicle.
The losing streak for New York has now reached 4 games.
