So Cal starter Tanner Johnson had a strong outing against the Seattle Sasquatch at Sick's Stadium. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 2-1 win. So Cal reliever Lloyd Hunt picked up the win to move to 8-3. Gabresilassie Cherono suffered the loss. Pin-zhen Au was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 44 of 47 save opportunities.
The Republic got a big at-bat from shortstop Luiz Lopez. For the game, Lopez was 1-3 with a walk. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 94th hit of the season gave So Cal a 2-1 lead.
"We bring energy to every game," said losing manager Carl Best. "But it's got to translate into wins."
The losing streak for Seattle has now reached 7 games.
