No matter what the New York Mafia threw at him today, John Oakes hit it. He easily handled Mafia pitching, going 5 for 5 and helping the Stogies to a 6-0 triumph at Don Corleone Park.

"The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball," he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview.

Told of Oakes's quip, Mafia skipper Dave Maloney said he "would take him up on that next time."

John Oakes singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

Oakes is currently hitting at a .316 pace with 28 home runs, 90 RBIs and has scored 78 times.
