Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Edward MacKinley, the New York Mafia defeated the Havana Stogies, 5-4. MacKinley went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs for the Mafia. Even with the win, the Mafia have a dismal 40-81 record.
The Mafia got a big at-bat from first baseman Lance Adams. For the game, Adams went 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 20th double of the season gave New York a 5-3 lead.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," MacKinley told the New York Chronicle.
